Stepping in to close the funding gap

When federal cuts threatened the UCLA Center for LGBTQ+ Advocacy, Research & Health, Jonah co-launched a fundraising initiative that raised over $150,000 to keep critical research alive — work later featured in the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health magazine's new "Join Jonah" campaign.

South Bay's first-ever Queer Prom

Jonah founded and produced the first-ever South Bay Queer Prom — an all-ages, judgment-free night built so LGBTQ+ students could experience a prom that felt unmistakably theirs. The event drew teens from across the South Bay and was covered on the front page of The Beach Reporter and in the Daily Breeze.

Organized and led a school walkout in protest of unlawful ICE detentions — rallying 900 students in a peaceful demonstration that turned student concern into collective action and visibility.

Co-Chair, Youth Advisory Council

Now in his fourth year on the Beach Cities Health District Youth Advisory Council, Jonah has risen to its most senior leadership role — Co-Chair — guiding a team of 40 students after first joining in 8th grade. In that role he presented a workshop on youth advocacy and legislation at the 2026 South Bay Leadership & Wellness Conference alongside members of Congressman Ted Lieu's Youth Advisory Council, to an audience of roughly 100 community members and local leaders.
